Characteristics

Paeonia Hybrid “DIANA PARKS” is a stunning herbaceous perennial with large, fragrant semi-double flowers that are bright red. The fluffy flowers are surrounded by lush, bright green foliage that creates a lovely backdrop for the blooms. This peony typically grows to 60 cm tall and blooms from late spring to early summer. The plant itself is considered ‘wild’ with high levels of productivity. This makes for a perfect cut flower peony. “DIANA PARKS” is suitable for cultivation in mild to warmer climates or greenhouses cultivation. The warmer temperatures will make sure the plant itself remains compact which will result in sturdy and heavy quality.

Origin DIANA PARKS Peony

Chinese peony or common garden peony, the lactiflora peony is a perennial herbaceous plant native to China, Japan, and Korea. Its huge, fragrant flowers make it one among the most extensively planted peonies.
HYBRID
Peonies resulting from the crossbreeding of two or more distinct peony species or varieties are known as hybrid peonies. Plant breeders have created hybrid peonies for many years, and their roots can be traced to ancient China. Peonies were cultivated in China for thousands of years and were highly regarded for their medicinal properties and aesthetic appeal.
During the 19th and 20th centuries, European and American botanists and horticulturists developed an interest in peonies and began interbreeding different varieties to produce new and distinct hybrids. Victor Lemoine, a Frenchman, was one of the most renowned peony breeders, having created numerous popular hybrids in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
In the middle of the 20th century, Japanese plant breeders began to cultivate their own hybrid peonies, including the popular “Shimadaijin” tree peony variety. Gardeners and flower enthusiasts continue to appreciate hybrid peonies for their attractiveness and fragrance.

How to plant

What follows are the steps for planting peony roots:
Peonies flourish in locations with plenty of sunlight and well-draining soil. Choose a location that receives at least six hours of sunlight every day and has organic-rich soil. Create a hole that is 30 cm (12 inches) broad and 10 cm (4 inches) deep.To boost soil fertility, loosen the soil at the bottom of the hole with a garden fork or spade and mix in some compost or well-rotted manure. Remove any stones or trash and break up any clumps.Insert the peony root into the hole so that the eyes (or growth buds) face up and are no more than 5 cm (2 inches) below the soil surface. Backfill the hole with dirt, gently firming it down to remove any air pockets.Thoroughly water the newly planted peony root to help settle the dirt around the roots. Soak the soil around the plant using a watering can or hose, being careful not to wash it away.Mulch the plant’s base with a 5 to 7.5 cm (2 to 3 inch) layer of organic mulch, such as shredded bark or straw.
